What is CBCT scanning?

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a specialist X-ray system that rotates around the patient and produces a complete three-dimensional image of the teeth, jaw, nerve pathways and sinuses in a single scan lasting under a minute.
Unlike standard dental X-rays, which show a flat two-dimensional image, CBCT allows us to view structures from any angle and in any plane — giving a far more accurate picture of complex anatomy before carrying out treatment.
When a CT scan is needed
Dental implant planning
Assessing bone volume, density and the position of nerves before implant placement — essential for safe and accurate surgery.
Complex root canal treatment
Visualising the number and curvature of root canals before treatment, particularly in teeth with unusual anatomy.
Impacted wisdom teeth
Precisely locating the inferior alveolar nerve before extraction to assess and minimise risk.
Orthodontic assessment
Evaluating tooth positions, root lengths and skeletal relationships for complex orthodontic cases.
Sinus assessment
Examining the maxillary sinuses before upper implant placement or to investigate sinus-related symptoms.
